Sump Pump for Plant Room Checklist and Procedure:

Required Tools:

  • Screwdriver.

  • Clamp meter.

  • Crimping Tool.

  • Megger.

  • Oil Can.

  • Grease Gun.

  • Plier.

  • Spanner Set.

  • Brush.

  • Bush.

  • Line Tester.

Consumable Parts:

  • PVC tape.

  • WD- 40.

  • Lubricating Oil.

  • Grease.

  • Carbon removing compound.

  • Old cleaning clothes.

Sump Pump Maintenance Activity:

Pump:

  • Check the alignment of the pump and the motor.

  • Check the shaft if the same is loose or broken.

  • Broken shaft to be removed immediately.

  • Check the bearing and if required do oiling or greasing.

  • Replace bearing if it is too noisy.

  • Check the bush if it is loose or broken.

  • Replace broken bush.

  • Check the coupling of the motor pump.

  • Check the but & bolts, tighten nut & bolts if required.

  • Check the impeller for loose & broken, replace if required.

  • Check stainer if it's broken, cleaning to be also done.

Motor:

  • Motor Should be of minimum 5 HP.

  • Electrical control should be proper.

  • Check for any burnt contact, loose electrical connection and overall operation to be checked.

  • Overload relay should be checked.

  • Check the operation of the relay, setting and loose electrical connections.

  • Check the timer operation and time settings.

  • Check for any loose electrical connection.

  • Check for any loose & burnt electrical connection.

  • Check the MCB rating and verify with the recommended Amp.

  • Check the motor bearing.

  • Perform oiling, greasing or change the bearing if required.

  • Check the internal Resistance Value.

Other points to check:

  • Check at the full Load motor capacity should be 7.5 Amp.

  • Check and verify the overload setting should be 8 Amp.

  • Overload relay range should be between 6Amp to 10Amp.

  • Check and verify the control fuse rating at 4 Amp.

  • Check and verify the MCB rating should be at 32 Amp.
