Global Distribution System

A distribution channel for reservations that provides worldwide distribution of hotel reservation information and allows selling of hotel reservations around the world, usually accomplished by connecting the hotel reservation system with an airline reservation system ( Eg - Amadeus, Saber, Galileo/Apollo or Worldspan etc.)

GDS - A network of internet reservation systems that provide a central place where travellers and travel agents can check availability and reserve travel-related products like hotels, airline, car rentals, cruises, rail. Formed and managed by the airline industry and includes system like Sabre, Apollo, Amadeus, and Pegasus.
