Distributors do not sell to the general public. In order to develop a competitive advantage; distributors often focus on serving one industry or one set of niche clients. For example; within the medical industry; there are major distributors that focus on providing pharmaceuticals; surgical supplies or dental supplies to clinics and hospitals.
